Thanksgiving is on October 12 this year. The Parliament of Canada proclaimed Thanksgiving as a national holiday in 1957. Since then the holiday has been celebrated on the second Monday in October.
“I wish everyone in Saint Boniface and the rest of Canada a marvellous Thanksgiving. “This day gives us an opportunity to thank the people in our lives. I have truly enjoyed the last few months, and I would like to thank my family, friends and constituents for all the good memories,” stated Shelly Glover.
The history of Thanksgiving can be traced back over 2,000 years, when Celtic priests and the Druids celebrated the harvest. Thanksgiving is an attitude of gratitude towards God: graced with many spiritual blessings in Christ, man recognizes God’s love and is grateful for it.
