Shelly Glover wishes you a Happy Labour Day!
September 02, 2009
Winnipeg, Manitoba - Shelly Glover, MP for Saint Boniface and Parliamentary Secretary for Official Languages celebrates Labour Day! Labour Day, once known as International Workers’ Day, is an annual international holiday. It is officially celebrated on the first Monday of September. This year, on September 7, workers in Canada will celebrate Labour Day. The Member for Saint Boniface, Shelly Glover, wishes to recognize the contribution of all Canadians to our country’s well-being. “Our country is strong and prosperous thanks to the efforts of all workers in Saint Boniface and Canada,” said Glover. “Labour Day is a time to pay tribute to all the men and women who create our country’s wealth.” Labour Day is celebrated every year, providing an opportunity to recognize progress on the labour front. These achievements include new initiatives, legislation and regulations in the Government of Canada’s Economic Action Plan to respond to the difficult economic realities of recent months. “The federal government has worked very hard to stimulate our country’s economy and ensure our workers have jobs. I am proud to say that, thanks to these efforts, more people are celebrating Labour Day today because they kept or found a job,” concluded Shelly Glover. For more information, visit labour.gc.ca. |
